I'd trade something for a batch of those truffles.Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11164372023881892463noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6690745083870672507.post-41988895271725754172010-02-03T18:16:15.890-08:002010-02-03T18:16:15.890-08:00Fleur de Sel is fantastic! Use it where I can appreciate the difference!Fanniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13256873494991946979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6690745083870672507.post-74718096398898257652010-02-01T22:10:23.952-08:002010-02-01T22:10:23.952-08:00Hi Devon, glad you stopped by!

I first tasted truffles like these at a sweet shop in our neighborhood. At $2.50 a piece, I knew I should try making them myself.

You're right, that coarse texture in a bite of anything is hard to ignore.Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15199328139152042955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6690745083870672507.post-83340907278421750632010-02-01T21:45:05.194-08:002010-02-01T21:45:05.194-08:00Oh Susan, you know I'm only thinking of your h...Oh Susan, you know I'm only thinking of your health... just think of all the antioxidants you'll be consuming! I think you'll enjoy fleur de sel used as a flourish. It has almost a sweet taste on these truffles.

I'll have to try it on caramels, that sounds yummy.Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15199328139152042955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6690745083870672507.post-90036274933387924122010-02-01T09:54:10.900-08:002010-02-01T09:54:10.900-08:00Jeffery Steingarten wrote about this salt in his b...Jeffery Steingarten wrote about this salt in his books and says that science experiments prove that people cannot tell the difference between fleur de sel and table salt when diluted in water. Maybe it has to be eaten as a topping as you said. Maybe it's a mouth-feel thing.Devonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00743563230762328030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6690745083870672507.post-72198897075663668742010-02-01T05:43:35.802-08:002010-02-01T05:43:35.802-08:00Oh my lord, are you trying to kill me?!!! I could eat my way through a whole pound of those truffles!

Did you know that the bitterness you taste in table salt is actually the iodine that is used to iodize it?

I only use sea salt or kosher salt to cook with or sprinkle on top. I haven't tried fleur de sel yet, but you've convinced me. I've heard it is quite sensational on caramel as well.Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14201860227400017841noreply@blogger.com
